For the benefit of our community
and the wider world, we aspire to
create a culture of radical giving in the Bay Area— catalyzing a faithful community
to joyfully imitate the generosity of Christ.

What if every person in the Bay Area knew a Christian they thought of as radically generous?

We hope to be a part of making this a reality.

Generosity: Bay Area will realize its vision by engaging its local, faithful community on three fundamental questions of generosity:

1. Why?

We believe generosity is central to the very heart of Christ. In partnership with Generous Giving, Generosity: Bay Area utilizes Journey of Generosity (JOG) retreats to address the “Why Give” question. These 22-hour overnight experiences (now online) bring together leaders in the marketplace, churches, ministry boards, and the community-at -large, to explore generosity.

Generosity: Bay Area fosters follow-up communities that occur as a natural outgrowth of the message and mission of JOGs, including support for lifestyles of financial contentment and radical giving. Special gatherings, events, and speakers that inspire joy and generosity will also be convened to offer compelling answers to the “Why Give” question.

2. Where?

Through events, campaigns, giving topic-based dialogues, shared resources and more, Generosity: Bay Area seeks to support people in exploring “Where should I give?".

Particularly, we are excited to explore affinity areas together. We encourage collaborative giving through giving circles and ongoing community conversations. We hope to deepen our knowledge and relationships around the various topics. Specific topics we have explored together included: Human Trafficking and Economic Development.

3. How?

Generosity: Bay Area facilitates communities of generosity, including offering resources and speakers who share personal giving approaches and experiences that address the “How Give” question.

Topics may include: managing your charitable portfolio, DAF or Private Foundation, multiple year giving versus single gifts, funding innovation versus proven models, supporting ministry sectors or geographic regions, and Board service. Generosity: Bay Area will encourage collaboration both to address needs and to provide the opportunity for giving together in community.

Our guiding values are: prayer, gratitude, joy, community, collaboration, and action.

Growing a movement through the virtuous cycle of generosity

Our vision will be realized when joyful generosity is synonymous with Bay Area Christian culture—evidenced by open-handed giving, increased joy, and the blessing of others through gifts, tithes, and time.
